Trading Fees and Other Costs

Before choosing a broker, traders should carefully consider trading fees and other associated costs. As a CFD and Forex broker, XTB applies two main types of trading fees:

Let us take a quick look at the trading fees that are available at XTB.

Costs/fees

What is this?

With XTB

Spreads

The cost is incorporated into the price of what you trade. A wider bid-ask spread means higher costs.

Standard account: start from 0.8 pip for EUR/USD

Pro Accounts: start from 0.1 pip for EUR/USD.

Commission

A flat fee paid per position is often used as an alternative to charging via the spread.

Standard STP Account: No commissions.

Pro Account: $3.50 per lot per side ($7 per round trip).

Financing charges

The cost of holding a position active overnight.

The broker does not charge an extra fee on top of standard swap rates.

Deposit fees

Fees charged by the broker to fund your account.

None

Withdrawal fees

Fees charged by the broker to withdraw money from your account.

Free for withdrawals above €100 and $50. Withdrawals below these amounts incur processing fees of €10 and $30, respectively.

Inactivity fees

Fees charged on dormant trading accounts.

€/$10 per month after 12 months of account inactivity

Spreads

Spreads represent the difference between the bid and ask prices of a financial instrument. At XTB, traders benefit from low spreads across all available live trading accounts:

Let us take a look at the average spreads offered on the two account types:

From the information above, the Standard Account on XTB shows a mark-up spread of 0.8 pips to cover trading costs for the EUR/USD pair.

Next, let’s compare the trading costs for XTB’s two main account types. For this comparison, we will assume a trade of one standard lot of EUR/USD (where a one-pip movement equals $10) and that the position is opened and closed at the same price. Using the average spreads, the trading costs for each account are as follows:

Standard Account

Pro Account

With its lower trading costs compared to the Standard Account, the Pro Account is designed primarily for high-volume traders.

Finally, let’s compare the average spreads of XTB’s Standard Account with those offered by other major brokers on some of the most actively traded Forex pairs.

From the table above, we can deduce that the spreads offered by the XTB Standard STP Account are similar to those offered by the big names in the industry, such as IC Markets, Fusion Markets, and IG Markets.

Commissions

Commissions are a common type of trading fee, representing small transaction charges applied by brokers. At XTB, clients using the Pro Account are charged $3.50 per lot per side ($7 for a round trip), while the Standard Account does not incur any commissions since its spreads are adjusted to cover trading costs.

Based on the Pro Account commission structure, this means:

Although the $7 round-trip commission on XTB’s Pro Account is comparable to fees charged by other major brokers, it is not the lowest in the industry. For example, the same trade on Fusion Markets’ Zero Account incurs a $4.50 round-trip commission, which is currently one of the most competitive rates available.

Spreads & Commissions

4/5

Financing Charges

XTB applies swap charges to leveraged positions held overnight, which are either credited or debited daily based on the interest rate differential between the base and quote currencies in Forex pairs. These fees are calculated by the xStation platform, which typically updates the Swap Points table once a week. If the interest rate of the currency being bought is higher than that of the currency sold, the trader may receive a positive swap credited to their account, and vice versa. The swap amount can be either positive or negative, depending on the currency pair.

Deposit fees

XTB does not charge fees for deposits made via bank transfers or credit/debit cards. However, some e-wallet transactions may incur processing fees. For example, clients registered under the international division pay 2% on Skrill deposits and 1% on Neteller deposits, while traders at the CySEC entity either pay no additional fees or a lower fee of 0.85% for PayPal deposits.

Withdrawal fees

Withdrawals under €100 at the CySEC entity and under $50 at the international division are subject to additional processing fees of €10 and $30, respectively. Withdrawals made via credit card incur a 1.5% commission.

Inactivity fees

After 12 months of inactivity, an inactivity fee of $/€10 per month will be charged to the trader’s account.

Inactivity Fees

2.5/5

Overall on Fees

XTB provides low spreads on the Pro Account, while the Standard Account features slightly marked-up spreads that remain competitive compared to other brokers. Commission fees are reasonable, and there are no hidden charges beyond overnight financing. However, additional costs may arise from deposit and withdrawal processing fees or inactivity charges.

Overall, XTB’s $7 round-trip commission on the Pro Account is higher than that of some competitors, such as Fusion Markets.

Trade Execution

XTB employs a hybrid business model that incorporates aspects of market making. For CFDs on currencies, indices, and commodities, the broker hedges part of the trades with external partners. For CFDs on cryptocurrencies, stocks, and ETFs, orders are executed directly through regulated exchanges or alternative trading systems.

While XTB acts as a market maker, this represents only about 20–30% of its revenue. The bid and ask prices clients see are based on underlying asset prices, though XTB also quotes its own prices and executes some orders internally. The broker operates under strict regulatory oversight, with authorities like CySEC ensuring fair and transparent order execution.

Clients benefit from fast trade execution, tight spreads, and no commissions on the Standard Account. In addition to market orders, risk management is supported through pending stop-loss and take-profit orders. Limit and take-profit orders are executed at the specified price or better, while stop-loss orders are executed at the first available price after the set level, which in some cases may be slightly different from the requested price.

Most methods provide instant funding, while bank transfers may take a few days to process. Security and Money Guarantees

At Thinkforexbrokers, we prioritize guiding our readers to trade exclusively with regulated brokers, and XTB meets this standard. Our key findings include:

FCA regulation ensures that brokers adhere to strict rules for safeguarding and managing client funds, minimizing the risk of fraudulent activity. UK traders are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) for up to £85,000 per claim if the broker becomes insolvent.

Similarly, CySEC regulation provides EU retail traders with coverage under the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF), offering compensation of up to €20,000 in the event of broker insolvency.
